Solar Energy
According to the Türkiye's Solar Energy Potential Atlas (GEPA) prepared by the Ministry of Energy, the total annual sunshine duration is 2,737 hours (daily total 7.5 hours), and the annual total incoming solar energy is 1,527 kWh/m².year (daily total 4.2 kWh/m²). Türkiye's total installed solar energy capacity is 9,319 MW. Although our country has a very large potential in solar energy, only a very small portion of this potential is being realized. When the return on solar energy investments is evaluated, it is seen that it is one of the most profitable, high-yielding and fastest-returning sectors. After the provision of a suitable location, financing source and initial institutional costs are overcome, it offers immediate returns, and in the following process, there are expense costs that are far below the return, except for the operating and maintenance costs. Not only in Turkey but also in Europe and Ukraine, the increasing energy demand is desired to be met from green and sustainable energy in order to reduce external dependency, and studies and supports are being focused on in this direction.
